Government Action Summit

September 11 - 13
, 2018
Hogan Lovells Conference Center, Washington, D.C.

AFFI’s Government Action Summit offers a unique opportunity to influence and gain insight into the political forces affecting the frozen food and beverage industry. Share with your member of Congress how their decisions impact your business and hear firsthand from the Trump Administration and federal agency officials on a range of topics, including food safety, trade, nutrition and labeling.

Food Safety Priorities Across Regulatory Agencies
Learn about the food safety priorities of FDA and USDA from agency officials and how they align with the priorities of the frozen food and beverage industry.

The Impact of Trade Wars on Frozen Foods
NAFTA renegotiations and the mounting dispute over steel trade are leading to tariffs on U.S. exports of agricultural commodities and finished foods, as well as imports of necessary product components. Join government leaders discussing how these disagreements play out in 2018 and what the impact will be on the frozen food industry. What can frozen food manufacturers do to protect their businesses from the rising costs of U.S. tariffs and retaliatory tariffs?

Nutrition Policy Under the Trump Administration
Both USDA and FDA are pushing ahead with measures aimed at promoting innovation in product development to encourage healthier choices for the consumer. From cleaner labeling to sodium reduction to the upcoming dietary guidelines, there are many initiatives under way that will impact frozen foods sold into retail, foodservice and school meals.

In addition, hear from a member of Congress at our Frozen Political Action Committee (PAC) Reception. A donation of $250 or more is suggested to attend. Click here to donate.

Don’t miss the entertainment!
The final day of the Summit will conclude with the Capitol Steps. Formed over 30 years ago by Senate staffers, the Capitol Steps set out to satirize the very people and places they worked for. Today, 35 albums and many features later (NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS), their satirical humor is still relevant and coming for frozen.
